Sinoville Fire Fighting Association along with Apiesrivier Rural Fire Protection Association declared a ban on open fires from 1 May 2018, till further notice. The fire ban excludes cooking fires, but we urge our communities to exert extreme caution during this high risk time when cooking using fires. You can still be held liable when a cooking fire gets out of control and damages property or cause injury and even loss of life.

SBBV and Apiesrivier LBBV calculates daily the fire danger index (FDI) applicable within our respective borders and communicate it on various platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp groups and our websites.
A person need to apply to the fire brigade or fire protection agencies for a fire permit for any open fires. A fire permit will only be issued upon inspection and evaluation of the precautions to contain and control such a fire, subject to the FDI on the particular day. Fire permits will only be valid if the FDI is less than 55.
